INPUT, PROCESS, STORAGE, OUTPUT

INPUT: In computing, an input device is (a piece of computer hardware equipment) used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system such as a computer or information appliance.
   EXAMPLE:
  • keyboard, mouse, webcam, scanners, joysticks, microphone.

PROCESS: When a computer recieves data from an input device, the data must go through an intermediate stage before it can be sent to an output device. A processing device is any device in a computer that handles this intermediate stage.
    EXAMPLE:
  • Central Processing Unit, Graphics Processing Unit, Motherboard, Network Card, Sound Card
STORAGE: A storage device is any hardware capable of holding information either temporarily or permanently. There are two types of storage devices used in computers. A primary storage device, such as RAM, and a secondary storage device, like a hard drive. Secondary storage can be removable, internal or external storage.
   EXAMPLE:
  •  Floppy Diskette, Magnetic Strip, Super Disk, Hard Drive, Casette Tape, Zip Diskette, Blu-ray Disk, USB Flash Drive, Memory Card, Memory Stick, Cloud Storage.


OUTPUT: An output device is any peripheral that recieves data from a computer, usually for display projection, or physical reproduction.
  EXAMPLE:

  • Monitor, Printer, Speakers, Headphones.
